Job Title: Youth Music Events Coordinator (Fusion BH1)

Salary: Salary: YMCA Bournemouth Grade 6: £22,234 to £27,500 per annum, pro rata, dependent on experience and qualifications.

Details of Hours / Contract Length: This vacancy is for a basic 5 hours per week and includes Saturdays 6.15 to 9.15 p.m. There must be recognition of the need for flexibility.

Description of Vacancy:
a) To gain a good knowledge and understanding of the types of music events young people want and to keep abreast of current trends in youth music tastes.
b) To maintain a positive connection with local youth bands, both those already succeeding and those just beginning their journeys. Offer a range of hooks for both to engage in Fusionís activities.
c) To develop strong working partnerships with relevant local companies and other groups, in particular with Absolute Music, Soundstorm, BAMM, AIM and the Anvil.
d) To achieve good attendance (minimum 24 young people) at every regular Saturday session and to reach capacity at special monthly events. The post-holder will assume overall responsibility for attendance figures.
e) To work closely with designated Marketing support from the YMCA for all literature produced (within YMCA branding guidelines) and ensure these reach target groups.
f) To work alongside the YMCA Youth Workers and Volunteers as a joined-up team with shared planning and evaluation.
g) The post-holder will be allocated with Saturday evenings on the staff rota but can negotiate swaps with other staff on the rota where necessary.
h) To take creative decisions from the young people and working with the Youth Volunteer Coordinator to enable youth participation through volunteering. To ensure, as a team, that all young volunteers and other active participants receive recognition for their hours and/or accreditation for their learning.
i) To attend and feed into internal and external meetings, including individual monthly supervisions, staff team meetings, strategy days and developmental meetings.
j) To liaise closely with the Youth Worker before, during and after sessions regarding young peopleís welfare and to report any safeguarding concerns immediately. This is a statutory and occupational requirement.
k) To contribute to session data monitoring and quarterly reporting in addition to any other reporting requested by management.
l) To link closely with YMCA Communications in promoting the programme, especially key events, and in sharing good news stories and outcomes.
m) To be mindful of joining an association and to embrace the YMCA as a local, national and global youth movement, using this to the advantage of the work.
n) To encourage young leaders to participate in the YMCA Young Leaders scheme.
o) To support occasional YMCA events outside the youth centre such as a community fun day, residential, trips or youth exchange.
p) To establish and maintain positive relationships and guide young people as part of general YMCA programmes aligning with set project outcomes based on needs.
q) To support the coordination, supervision and development of YMCA adult volunteers
r) To help maintain a good social media presence on relevant platforms, including at least one weekly post before/after sessions and timely responses to online enquiries.
s) To assist with service development by constructively contributing to the planning, delivery and ongoing monitoring of YMCA youth work programmes.
t) To feed up any grievances promptly before they escalate and affect team morale.
u) To be conscious of working as part of a broad YMCA team serving young people throughout Bournemouth (and beyond) and to contribute to joined-up approaches meeting our objectives.
v) To participate in all mandatory training as required and to take responsibility for own continuous professional development.
w) To undertake all work in adherence to YMCA Bournemouthís policies and procedures, and in particular to those regarding: Equal Opportunities, Safeguarding, Health & Safety, Data Protection, Social Media and Lone Working.
x) To ensure that all health and safety instructions and risk assessments are adhered to and that all reasonable care is taken not to do anything that might endanger the worker or others.
y) To promptly report to the appropriate persons any dangerous situations in the workplace or any shortcomings in health and safety arrangements.

In addition to the job set out in this job description the worker may, from time to time, be required to undertake additional or other duties as necessary within his or her capabilities and status to meet the needs of YMCA Bournemouth
